anticipated debate. we'll bring you a preview of tonight's showdown. and a television anchor addresses a bully, accusing her of setting a bad example for kids. we'll tell you about that, all of that coming up on this wednesday, october 3rd. good morning, i'm charley crowson. >> i'm megan pringle. we want to let you know in kent and queen anne's county there's a 90-minute delay for school, and in queen anne no morning pre-k. >> the storms were bad out there. lynette, you've been watching this. >> coming in it was very bad outside, very hectic. we do have a dense fog advisory for 8:00 this morning for this area shade inside the gray color. we're looking at cecil county and hartford county, northern baltimore county, the city and also as we head south in anne arundel county. so this is what we can expect through 8:00 and even once 8:00 passes we'll still have that fog out there, it just won't be dense in nature. since we do have that dense fog advisory, we see reduced visibility about quarter mile or less in a lot of spots this

morning, so you really need to take it easy. across the eastern shore we have about seven miles of reduced visibility there and this will continue until that sun rises for today and we'll still have some areas of patchy fog across the area. this is what we're working with this morning, we do have showers across cecil county and kent coun. if you are in those areas, make sure you do take the rain gear as you head out and about. temperature in jefferson right now is 62 degrees. it's a mild start. let's get a check now of the abc 2 time saver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. >>reporter: good morning, lynette. the fog is certainly having an impact on your commute. there's reduced visibility across the region. it's really bad out there, so you want to be extra careful. be sure slow down. we have a downed tree in falston that shut down hartford road between 152 and record road. if you are traveling in the area, stick with bel aire road instead. if you are using 95, there are no delays right now from hartford county all the way down to white marsh, and it will remain nice and clear as you do get into the city, as we check in and take a live look outside here at eastern avenue, no problems to report, but we

are still dealing with that fog, definitely keep that in mind before you head out. as we take a look at some other drive times, no problems to report on 695. it will be nice d clear from parkville all the way out towards towson. and if you are traveling the west side of 695 this morning, no delays, just that typical 11- minute ride right now on the outer loop from 795 down to 895. megan and charley, over to you. after more than a year of primary campaigns and hee lexes, the race to the white house comes down to two candidates and tonight those men are going to be meet for the first time in a highly anticipated debate from denver. charley right now is at the live desk this morning with a preview of the showdown between president barack obama and governor mitt romney. >>reporter: megan, a number of political pundits say tonight's debate from colorado could go a long way towards separating these two candidates currently lock inside a very tight race. the campaigns, though, are downplaying the expectations between the squareoff involving president obama and governor romney. both candidates have spent the past two days prepping with

their campaign advisers, focusing on the likely questions they'll face as tonight's topics include domestic policy, especially the economy. governor romney has been preparing in denver and says tonight's debate will not be about finding a definitive winner. >> in my view, it's not so much winning or losing, or even the people themselves, the president or myself, it's about something bigger than that. these debates are an opportunity for to discuss a pathway forward for america that we would choose. >>reporter: the president has been practicing outside oflation. to his supporters he remains confident, but he's not underestimating his opponent. >> governor romney, he's a good debater. i'm just okay. >>reporter: now, pbs' jim le hrer airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. you can see it here on abc 2 news. according to the most recent cnn/rc poll, when you factor in the margin of error of 3 1/2

points, this race remains a dead heat. >> thanks, charley. if you want to watch those debates with a big group of people would which could be pretty fun. you'll want to head to gillman. they'll be hosting an audience discussion about the debate and the campaign as well, as well as historical coverage of important moments in american electoral history. so this event begins at 8:30 tonight. you can always check it out. it ends around 10:30 this evening. baltimore county police have made two arrests in a string of abductions that have happened in the area. abc 2 news' linda stow this morning is at police headquarters in the county with the very latest. and, linda, any new information this morning so far? >>reporter: police have released the suspect's identities. they are 21-year-old kenyon waller and 25-year-old william campbell, both of baltimore. they're being held without bond this morning at the county detention center. police say the men abducted several victims from bus stops in baltimore county and the

city. the first two cases involved teen girls who were abducted from a bus stop in catensville, held at gunpoint and sexually assaulted. then just the other day police say the suspects abducted a man and a woman near the mta bus stop on liberty heights in the city. the man was able to get away quickly, the woman was robbed and then let go. similar cases prompted detectives in both the city and county to start working together and that's how they tracked down the suspects. baltimore city detectives were able to get a partial tag, officers from both jurisdictions began to work together, investigating these incidents. they were able to identify the owner of the vehicle used and connect one of the suspects to the owner. >>reporter: now, police believe that there may be more victims out there that have yet to come forward. if these cases sound familiar to you, please call police in baltimore county or the city. we're live at county police headquarters, linda stow, abc 2 news. it looked like a makeshift zoo in pasadena, 40 animals were pulled out of the home,

not just dogs and birds, but a tarantula, a chinchilla and a pig. shane taylor says he was just trying to nurse the animals back to health, but animal control says they weren't cared for properly. taylor says he wanted to keep the animals until they were well and he could adopt them out to others who would take care of them. >> i don't go out looking for animals to take because it takes a lot of work, it really does, and so i don't go out looking for animals, but as they come to me, if i had the capacity and then i'm more than willing to help out. >> during the summer anne arundel county animal control tried to work with taylor. he gave up 10 animals with the promise that he would not take in any more until he could improve conditions. the shelter director says that didn't happen, so they came in and removed the animals. news time right now 5:36. in news around the nation this morning, the former penn state university assistant football coach whose testimony helped convict jerry sandusky on child

molestation charges, he has filed a lawsuit against the school. mike mcqueary says the university reined his reputation and fired him for his cooperatioin the investigation. he is seeking $4 million from the university. mcqueary was fired in july after being placed on administrative leave in november. it's something that you eat for lunch, not something that you would use to attack your wife with. however, this man that you're going to see right there, larry sperling of nebraska spent five days in jail for using a sandwich as a weapon. he and his wife got into an argument and he took a sandwich and rubbed it in her face. well, deputies found evidence of the attack on the carpet, pieces of lunch meat. here's an important issue, whether or not you're a republican or a democrat, which first lady would make the best batch of cookies? it turns out it's michelle obama. she and ann romney submitted cookie recipes to the magazine family circle and people voted on their favorites.

a beet captain from south -- a boat captain from south georgia has quite a fish tale to tell. he and others were fishing about 30 miles off the coast of florida when he got to touch a whale shark. >> we experienced something that, as brad said there on the video, incredible, it's simply amazing, and i hope to have many more experiences like this because this is phenomenal. >> it's pretty cool.

i can understand why he's so excited about it. the 25-foot whale shark hung around for about an hour, even nudged the boat. that would probably make me a little nervous. the whale shark is the largest of all the shark species, so pretty incredible sight in the water for those guys. lynette, you have the adventurous spirit, would you reach out and touch the whale shark? >> it doesn't like people, so i would, yeah. because it doesn't eat people, i would do it, charley. we are dealing with plenty of fog out there. we actually do have a dense fog advisory. as the kids head out to the bus stop, be prepared for that. also the kids don't need the coat this morning. i would put the umbrella in the backpack, though, because there's a chance of showers as they come home this afternoon. we can see that temperature very warm, coming in right around 85. we will be mainly dry throughout most of the day, just an isolated shower or two this afternoon. let's get a check now of the abc 2 news time saver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. >>reporter: good morning, lynette. fog certainly an issue. in hartford county we're dealing with rain and a fallen tree that has shut down

bullying. >> that man's words mean nothing to me. but what really angers me about this is there are children who don't know better, who getting mails as critical as the one i received or in many cases even worse each and everyday. the internet has become a weapon. our schools have become a battleground, and this behavior is learned. it is passed down from people like the man who wrote me that e-mail. >> well, livington thanked the people who have supported her and she says she wants to use this opportunity to teach kids, not to let her self worth be defined by others' words. livington will appear on "good morning america" later today. five things you may want to know as you head out the door this morning. jimmy hoffa is still missing. the latest search for his remains, for the former teamster boss in michigan came up empty. police took soil samples from a home after a man said he saw a

body being buried there when hoffa disappeared back in 1975. tests showed no evidence of human remains. american airlines' investigation into those loose seats has turned up six problem planes. the airline identified 40 boeing 757s that needed to be inspected. so far it's checked out about 36 of those planes and six have had issues. the rest of the planes are already back in service. a conference at morgan state university today is going to focus on minority adlessents and teenagers are being treated in maryland's criminal justice system. it's going to focus on whether minority use, whether they're disproportionately represent inside prison. u.s. births have fallen forethe fourth consecutive year. the decline in 2011 was just 1%, not as much as in year's past. analysts say the decline is proof that the economy is making some people think twice about having children. the secretary of education wants printed books to be phased out within a decade. fells point is hosting its

annual festival this weekend and it has even more to celebrate. the waterfront community, it was named one of the best 10 greatest neighborhoods in the country, not bad. this is according to the american planning association. it was singled out as one of america's most important colonial and civil war sea ports with character as well as charm. well, today a special day, pink picnic is going to raise awareness about breast cancer. this is happening at b.j.'s wholesale club in owens mills. now, the event at b.j.'s will reveal the pink club merchandise that is going to sell throughout the month of october, breast cancer awareness month, all to raise money for research. the pink picnic is free and a guest speaker is going to be there about breast cancer. she's a survivor. all the attendees will receive a complementary lunch and gift bag. it starts at 11:00, it goes until 1:00 this afternoon. this is the scene last year in hunt valley as we laced up our shoes walking and

were on the heavy side. right now temperatures are in the upper 60s from stevensville to tillman. we are looking at stevensville and also buoy coming in at 69 degrees, 64 in mount airy. baltimore at 68 degrees right now and pylesville 65 and over in goldsboro, we're coming in at 65 degrees. so no coat needed. but what i do want you to take is the jacket -- or is the umbrella, rather, and the reason why is, well, we do have this warm front that will be working its way through the area as we go through the remainder of the morning. with that it's already sparked off some showers and we do still have a chance for some more wet weather to work its way in here, but we should stay mainly dry for today, just scattered showers. we're in the middle of that warm sector, so with that temperatures are going to soar to the 80s as we go throughout the day today. and as we go through tonight, 65 degrees, it's going to be humid all day with an isolate 0ed shower and 82 by tomorrow. that seven-day forecast, well, drops those temperatures down as we head through the end of the weekend into the beginning of the week. let's get a check now of the abc 2 news time saver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. >>reporter: good morning,
